Amgen Race Cancelled on South Shore

I woke up this morning to 6" of new and blowing snow. After watching it come down through the morning I did not have a good feeling about the first leg of this race. Then came the news that the race would be postponed till 1:15 this afternoon. Together with my friend Robert we drove down to Ski Run and Hwy 50 to watch the bikers race by. Hwy 50 was closed to all vehicles, only support cars and California highway patrol were on hand. The road looked surprisingly pretty dry. As the start neared 1:15 everyone thought we might just get this in. Once the time got to 1:20 we knew that the race was not going to happen. I feel the roads on South Shore were good enough, but Emerald Bay was pretty much the deciding factor. What a shame, this would of been great for the city....
